Lean tools and design-assist have emerged as one of the most significant developments to improve value, efficiency, and relationships in the design and construction industry. Design and construction contracts provide both a potential obstacle and opportunity to incorporating lean tools and design-assist effectively. Learn how and why you can incorporate lean and design-assist on your projects to achieve an IPD’lite or IPD’ish approach without using a fully integrated project delivery (IPD) method or integrated form of contract (IFOA). Writing lean contracts is difficult, now there are off-the-shelf industry standard contracts to help.

Learning Objectives:
• Gain an overview of the new ConsensusDocs 305 Lean Addendum and ConsensusDocs 541 Design-Assist Addendum
• Identify the range of services that constitute design-assist and how lean contracting tools help amplify the benefit throughout the design and then construction phase
• Learn lean project fundamentals that you can incorporate in your project’s contracts
• Understand how to implement lean practices and lean culture when an owner’s constraints preclude use of an IPD contract
