This course is intended to prepare participants to perform work in trenches or excavations. The course will cover the responsibility of the competent person and allow participants to practice skills necessary to perform safe work. CSSI has partnered with National Trench Safety to provide their competent person course and resources.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Review of OSHA regulations for trenching/excavating
- Define the responsibilities of the competent person
- Identify hazards associated with excavations
- Practice classifying soil samples and identifying atmospheric hazards
- Execute a trench/excavation log
- Demonstrate selection and installation of protective systems
