The Cost of Suppressing Strengths & Identifying your ROI
We start by naming what suppression actually looks like in the field: softened language in meetings, second-guessed instincts, deferred decisions; and excavate the reasons we get us there. Participants map their own patterns using guided prompts, then work in small groups to identify the real cost: to themselves, their teams, and their projects. This part is diagnostic — it gives people language for something they've felt but haven't been able to name.
We shift from diagnosis to action. Participants define their own personal ROI — what they invest and what they return — using a simple framework they can reuse. We then work through how to communicate that value clearly and confidently in real construction conversations (performance reviews, project meetings, client interactions), and how raising your own ROI raises the ROI of the whole team.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify the specific behaviors that signal when we’re suppressing our own strengths or expertise on the job.
- Articulate the cost of playing small — to ourselves, our team, and our projects.
