This training is designed to provide participants with basic level of knowledge of rigging gear inspection, proper rigging procedures, and load control using typical rigging techniques. This interactive classroom and hands-on workshop is the ideal foundational skill and knowledge building course for those new to cranes, rigging, and load handling.

Learning Objectives:

  • Rigging Introduction - Basic rigging terms, rigging gear capacity and use, as well as learn to identify control methods with various sling hitches
  • Rigging Inspection - Recognize and evaluate field-damaged rigging gear samples according to the guidelines established by recognized industry standards
  • Rigging Selection - Select slings and rigging hardware based on the anticipated loading and rigging method
  • Load Handling Activities - Recognize common load handling hazards, blocking practices, crane hand signals, and path of travel; as well as an introduction to completing a standard lift plan
  • Equipment Testing - Understand the testing requirements of rigging gear according to the guidelines established by recognized industry standards
  • Rigging Knots - Become familiar with the basic knots utilized in rigging
  • Sling and Hardware Applications - Become familiar with good rigging practices
