The construction industry has higher rates of suicide than workers in many other industry groups. Frankly, we are facing a crisis. Presenter Ryan Nesbit will share some eye-opening statistics regarding construction and its effects on individuals, families, communities, and workplaces. Ryan will discuss causes of suicide and warning signs to be aware of. He will help normalize the discussion of this taboo subject and will offer ways to prevent suicide, including a method known as QPR: Question, Persuade, Refer. Ways to offer help to someone in crisis will be discussed. Together, we can take steps to break the stigma and silence and help stem the tide of suicide in the construction industry.
