SE Polk’s project is to build a new building and utilize it for the skilled trade extension, which is very close to their high school. The goal is to create permanent learning stations for their students to include plumbing, wall/window/door setting, electrical, drywall, roofing, etc.…  The school will be able to do larger projects with this new addition. The new location will also give them shared space to offer Industrial Tech courses across their buildings, not just the High School.

Forest City, IA
Award: $30,000

MBI Supporting Member:Kingland Construction Services

The project includes a new hook lift truck system that transports containers with tools, equipment and supplies to job sites by NIACC Construction Trades dual enrollment students.  The efficiency will allow the students to not always/continually take time to load and unload congested trailers for jobs.  Students will be able to have more time to learn at job sites and the vehicle will also be used for Advanced Manufacturing students as a learning tool for manufacturing processes.  The grant funds will purchase 3 containers to be outfitted with equipment specific to job needs, including concrete work, framing and wall construction, hand tools, equipment, scaffolding and safety equipment.
